Grocery Store Wine is an independent publication of Grand Cru Ventures. We research wines found in ordinary stores, then publish a clear point of view.

What our verdict means

Our verdict weighs information from the producer, the region and year, published wine details, shopper ratings, price context and intended style. It tells you who should buy the wine, who should skip it and why.

The GSW Score

Every store rates wine its own way. We put them all on the same scale, give more weight to larger groups of ratings, and limit how much any one store website can affect the result. Then every scored wine is placed on a single curve relative to the whole shelf, centered at 86, so the score tells you where a bottle stands among what you can actually buy. How we keep facts straight

We keep general wine information, facts about a particular year, store listings and details from the bottle separate. That helps us say only what each source proves.

Commercial independence

Launch profiles are not paid placement. Future samples, affiliate relationships, sponsorships or other business ties will be disclosed on the affected page.

Alcohol

This publication is for adults of legal drinking age. It does not sell alcohol and does not encourage excessive consumption.
