Prices

Our prices are dated observations, not estimates. We record the posted regular price for an exact product at named stores in six markets, through the retailer's own product data, and we show you the date beside every price. A price on this site means: this store listed this bottle at this price on this day. It is evidence about the shelf, never a promise about your store, and never a deal claim.

The bottles themselves

Every wine is keyed to its real shelf barcode. Where we have handled the physical bottle, the barcode is certified from our own photographs; where we have not, we say the barcode is computed from the store's product identifier and has not yet been checked against glass. The difference is always visible on the page.

Producer facts

A producer fact appears on a wine's page only when we found it at an official source: the producer's own site, an importer's record, or a regulator. We record where and when we found it. When a producer describes how a wine tastes, we quote that as the producer's description, in their voice, not ours. When the producer does not say something, neither do we: if no official page names the grapes in a blend, our page tells you that instead of guessing.

Shopper ratings

Ratings shown here are counts and averages left by shoppers on store listings, reported with their count and the date we checked them. They are opinions from people who bought the wine, not our judgment and not sales figures. We do not mark ratings up for search engines, because a single retailer's ratings are context, not a universal score.

Our overviews

Every authored overview is written from that wine's evidence file: its dated prices, its ratings, its sourced facts, and our own region and grape research. The numbers inside an overview update automatically from our latest checks, and every comparative claim we make (like "one of the least expensive whites we track") is re-tested against the full catalog whenever our data changes. When a claim stops being true, the sentence gets rewritten, not left to rot.
