The Grocery Store Wine verdict
Grattamacco
Bolgheri Rosso
At $40.99–$42.99 in our two checks, Grattamacco is the cohort’s clearest premium wager. The place and physical 2024 bottle are certified; the score stays at the methodology prior because no usable public rating sample exists, and the 2024 recipe remains open.

- You use public reception as a buying signal

Serve slightly cool, then let the glass warm enough to show its fruit and structure.
Match the bottle’s savory red weight, acidity and oak to the food, not to the label’s prestige.

We decoded the EAN-13 from the owner’s in-store photograph on August 8, 2026 and verified its check digit. The package GTIN is physically certified; vintage and lot claims remain limited to what the photograph or producer record proves.

Denomination and estate positioning
Understanding Bolgheri DOC without flattening it.
Bolgheri is geographically narrow by Tuscan standards, but the DOC still contains different elevations, exposures and blends. The denomination proves place and a regulatory framework, not one estate recipe.
A protected place
A protected denomination confined to the municipality of Castagneto Carducci in coastal Tuscany, with separate rules for red, rosé and white wine types.
The climate frame
The production zone faces the Tyrrhenian coast and is moderated by maritime air. Hills rise inland from the coastal plain, changing exposure and day-night range over short distances.
What can be claimed
The zone includes alluvial and marine-derived deposits with differing proportions of clay, sand, limestone and stones. An estate source is needed before assigning a finished wine to one profile.
Scale, without the fog

Subregions worth tracking
- Legal boundary
- Production is limited to Castagneto Carducci, in Livorno province. established
- Bolgheri Rosso
- The production specification permits Bordeaux varieties and Sangiovese within the red-wine framework; the bottle’s exact blend still requires a release record. established

The estate farms hillside vineyards in Bolgheri and publishes detailed release records, but the newest reviewed technical page is 2023 rather than the photographed 2024.
