Founders and first US varietal Tempranillo
Abacela says founders Earl and Hilda Jones planted the estate's first vines in Southern Oregon's Umpqua Valley in 1995 to learn whether fine Tempranillo could be grown there, and that three years later they produced America's first varietal Tempranillo.
