Napa Cellars names two vineyards behind this Cabernet Sauvignon. The producer says Main Street Vineyard, in St. Helena, carries Cabernet vines planted in 1989 and 1997, growing in what the winery describes as fine, loamy, gravelly Pleasanton-series soil, and holds Fish Friendly Farming certification; Salvador Vineyard, in the Oak Knoll AVA north of downtown Napa, is a younger site the producer says grows several different Cabernet clones in loamy valley-floor ground. Napa Cellars describes its overall approach as “quietly refined, thoughtfully made, and easy to enjoy”, wines the winery says are “meant to be opened and shared” rather than treated as special-occasion bottles.

Our call: this suits a shopper who buys on a named vineyard story; Napa Cellars ties the fruit to two specific sites, Main Street and Salvador, each with its own soil and certification detail, and the winery has carried its Napa Valley name since 1976. Pass if you want a shopper record behind that story; no rating has reached us yet, so the vineyard account is what the price is buying.
