What we make of this bottle
Roederer Estate Brut is a California sparkling wine sold in a 750 ml bottle. Roederer Estate says the winery was founded in 1982 by Champagne Louis Roederer.
The producer also says it makes its sparkling wines entirely from estate-grown grapes in California's Anderson Valley. That is a statement about the winery's sparkling wines overall, not about this particular bottle.

Roederer Estate's own technical sheet answers the grape question left open above: this Brut blends 60 percent Chardonnay and 40 percent Pinot Noir at 12.5 percent alcohol. Dosage, the sugar added at corking, comes to 10 grams per liter, a light hand that keeps a Brut-style sparkling wine dry with only a faint touch of sweetness. Reserve wines from earlier vintages, aged two to seven years, make up 10 to 15 percent of the blend for added depth, and the sheet states its winemaking choices plainly: only the first, gentle pressing of the grapes is used, fermentation happens in stainless steel rather than oak, and malolactic fermentation, which softens a wine's sharper acidity, is kept to a minimum to preserve freshness. Outside critics have scored the current release in the low-to-mid 90s, among them 95 points from JamesSuckling.com, which called it a “fresh and vibrant wine”, and 94 points from Wine Spectator, which described it as “dynamic yet sleekly elegant”.

Pass if you buy on the crowd's word; no shopper rating has reached our record yet, so you would be relying on critics alone, not on other shoppers like you.
