What we make of this bottle
So it is a Washington Cabernet, priced at $16.88 at the one store we checked in August 2026, and the grape is the part of that name our grape research can actually describe. Our grape research describes Cabernet Sauvignon as a red grown widely, often built firm, and often used in red blends. The same research gives its common fruit references as black currant, cherry and plum, with a tannin you can feel and, where oak is involved, a little spice, and it notes that ripeness and winemaking can push a Cabernet toward the lean, herb-tinged end or the round and fruit-forward one. The grape sets a direction, not a promise. Our 15 September 2026 check found it at none of the ten stores we track.
