What we make of this bottle
The grape is Cabernet Sauvignon and the place is California, named no more precisely than the state. Barefoot's own account of the brand traces it to 1965, when Davis Bynum made the first Barefoot wine in his Albany garage; the company took the Barefoot Cellars name and its footprint label in 1986, winemaker Jennifer Wall joined in 1995 and remains in that role, and E. & J. Gallo Winery acquired the brand in 2005. Wine Enthusiast named Barefoot its 2025 American Winery of the Year. The producer's page for this particular bottle, though, publishes no alcohol level and no production detail beyond a flavor description, so those specifics stay a gap.
Official grape guides describe Cabernet Sauvignon as often firmly built, with noticeable tannin. Whether this California bottle is built that way is not something a label or a rating can settle, and we have not tasted it. Even so, 28 shoppers have rated it, at an average of 4.5 out of five.

Barefoot's product page for this Cabernet describes it as “rich and smooth” and says it “positively bursts with bold, round layers of raspberry and blackberry jam then finishes with notes of currant and smooth vanilla,” the producer's words. The bottle also comes in an unusually wide range of sizes for the shelf, from 187 mL splits up to 3-liter format, though the page stops short of stating an alcohol level or naming a specific growing region within California.
Our call: a sensible reach if what you want is a confirmed Cabernet Sauvignon at a low price from an established producer; Barefoot's own account puts sixty years and one winemaker's tenure behind the label, and it stands among the least expensive reds we track. Walk past if you buy on the shopper rating; the average lands below the middle of the rated wines we cover.
