The grape here is Cabernet Sauvignon. Our grape research describes it as a red variety grown across many wine regions, one that often makes firmly built wines and shows up frequently in red blends. For flavor, regional authorities point to black currant, cherry and plum as common fruit references, with noticeable tannin and possible spice from oak; how ripe the fruit gets, the climate, and the winemaking can send the result toward a lean, herbal style or a fuller, fruit-forward one.
The name reads Sonoma Reserve, while the origin here is California. Clos du Bois says Frank Woods founded the winery in 1974, which dates the company rather than anything in this bottle.

Clos du Bois's current site does carry a Cabernet Sauvignon page, but only for its base 2023 California bottling, not one labeled Sonoma Reserve; several guessed web addresses for a dedicated Sonoma Reserve page came back as pages that once existed and have since been removed. The brand's own history page still lists “Sonoma Reserve wines” as part of its portfolio, so the tier is real, but we have not confirmed that the base bottling's tasting notes describe this particular Sonoma Reserve wine, so we are not carrying them over here.
Our call: this suits a shopper who wants the Cabernet Sauvignon grape and Clos du Bois's decades-old name and is comfortable buying without a confirmed producer page for the Sonoma Reserve tier specifically. Pass if you want the producer's own tasting notes or a shopper rating behind a reserve-priced bottle; neither is available, and we have not been able to confirm which of the producer's current pages, if any, describes this exact wine.
