Far Niente Wine Estates, the parent company, traces to 1885, when the original Far Niente winery was built in Oakville by John Benson; the estate was restored starting in 1979 by Gil and Beth Nickel, and Post & Beam debuted in 2020 with a 2018 vintage.

Our call: the Napa Valley origin, not just California broadly, makes this worth a look; Far Niente's own page places this Cabernet's fruit there specifically and ties it to a winery estate with roots back to 1885. Pass if brand tenure or a shopper record matters to you; Post & Beam only launched in 2020, and no rating has reached us to weigh against Far Niente's own claims.
