What we make of this bottle
Pinot Noir is the grape, and our research on it stays deliberately careful. Category guides commonly name red cherry, berry and plum, but the same research warns that site and ripeness can move it from bright and delicate to dark and full, so nothing about the taste is settled by the grape name alone. Our grape research adds that Pinot Noir tends to be lighter in color and less tannic than Cabernet, but that is a comparison between grapes, not a promise about how full this bottle will taste.
The name gives Argyle Grower Series; the rest takes a little digging. Argyle Winery says it was founded in 1987 by Rollin Soles in Dundee, Oregon, in the heart of the Willamette Valley, which marks the company's beginning rather than this bottle's.
