Take the producer at its word, and the account is short: Joel Gott founded the company in 1996, the winery says, and that date belongs to the business, not this particular bottle. The wine is a California Sauvignon Blanc, and the grape name settles less than it might seem, because our grape research notes that Sauvignon Blanc is usually made dry but leaves the sweetness and any oak up to whoever makes it.

We do not have a shopper rating for this wine. What varied instead was the price: across the stores we checked in September 2026, the same bottle ranged from $14.99 to $20.99.

Joel Gott's technical sheet for this bottle lists the wine at 9 percent alcohol, notably lower than the label's own regular Sauvignon Blanc, which the producer's separate tech sheet puts at 13.9 percent, alongside 3.3 grams per litre of residual sugar, a touch of sweetness. The producer sources the fruit across five California regions, Sonoma, Lake County, Lodi, Monterey and Santa Barbara, and says blending them is meant to balance ripeness and acidity into one food-friendly wine. The Tasting Panel's Meridith May scored it 90 points and, in the producer-quoted line, called it "a decidedly fresh tasting white wine, with bright acidity and vivid notes of lime and white tea flowers," the critic's words, at that same 9 percent alcohol. The wine ferments long and cool in stainless steel, by the producer's account, a choice aimed at holding onto natural acidity.

Our call: worth considering if a lower-alcohol white with a documented 90-point score is what you are after; Joel Gott states the 9 percent alcohol plainly and a named critic backs the style claim. Pass if a shopper's opinion matters more to you than a critic's; no shopper rating has reached our record for this bottle yet.
