Marietta Arme Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine

Marietta Cellars puts its own start at 1978: it says it is a family owned winery in Sonoma County, California that has been making wine since then, with owner and winemaker Scot Bilbro the second generation of the family running it. The lower shelf price we saw for the Arme Cabernet was $32.99 in our September 2026 checks.

The name gives the grape as Cabernet Sauvignon, and because we do not have a shopper rating for this bottle, its character comes down to what the grape guides say rather than what shoppers report. The higher price we saw in those same September 2026 checks was $34.99. Those guides call Cabernet a firmly built red and a frequent part of blends, pointing to black currant, cherry and plum as common fruit references, with noticeable tannin and possible spice from oak, and they add that ripeness, climate and winemaking can send it either way, lean and herbal in style or broad and fruit-led.

Marietta's own vineyards page names the estates behind the ARMÉ: the McDowell Valley property, 270 acres the winery bought in 2012 and plants mostly to Rhone varieties, and a parcel near Geyserville in Alexander Valley, 35 acres bought in 1990 from a family that had farmed the land since 1886. The producer's technical notes for the current release list 14.8 percent alcohol, a three-week fermentation at temperatures in the 70s, and 20 months of aging in neutral barrels, with about 6,000 cases made. Antonio Galloni's Vinous gave the wine 93 points in a Spring 2019 review, an outside critic's score rather than a shopper rating, and the producer states the wine can be drunk now or held for as long as fifteen years.

Our call: this suits a shopper who wants a story behind the label together with an outside critic's opinion; Marietta names its vineyard sources precisely, McDowell Valley and the Alexander Valley property near Geyserville, and Antonio Galloni's Vinous scored the wine 93 points in a review separate from our own record. Pass if you weigh shopper consensus over critic scores; no shopper rating has reached our record for this bottle, so the case for it rests on the producer's account and one outside critic's number.
