Silverado Vineyards makes this Cabernet Sauvignon in California. Cabernet is a red grape grown in many regions, and our grape research notes it often makes firm, substantial reds and commonly appears in blends.

For the story behind the name, Silverado Vineyards says it was founded in 1981 by Ron and Diane Miller, together with Diane's mother Lillian Disney, to make wine from the family's Napa Valley estate on the Silverado Trail; the winery adds that in June 2022 Foley Family Wines bought it.
Silverado Vineyards' technical sheet for the current Estate Cabernet Sauvignon blends 81 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with four other Bordeaux grapes: 10 percent Merlot, 5 percent Cabernet Franc, 3 percent Petit Verdot and 1 percent Malbec, finishing at 14.9 percent alcohol. The fruit is drawn from several of the estate's Napa Valley vineyards, among them the Mt. George Vineyard, planted in the 19th century, and the Oakville Station site. The producer's own tasting notes for the 2023 vintage describe “bright red and black cherry aromas framed by blue fruits, vanilla, and hints of cedar and cola”, a full-bodied palate with “graceful layers of mocha, graphite and dark plums”, and fine-grained tannin. The winery's Napa Valley holdings grew in stages under the Miller family, starting with 105 acres in Yountville in 1976 and 226 acres in the Stags Leap District in 1978, among the district's first plantings.
Our call: a match for a shopper who wants the full estate story spelled out; Silverado's own technical sheet names all five grapes in the blend and traces the fruit to specific, decades-old Napa Valley sites, including a 19th-century vineyard. Pass if a change in ownership matters to you, or you want shopper ratings first before spending here; Foley Family Wines bought the winery from the founding Miller family in 2022, and no rating has reached our record yet to confirm how this wine is landing today.
