What we make of this bottle
So the word to slow down on is Chianti. It points to Sangiovese-led wine from Tuscany, but it is not one flat category: Chianti and Chianti Classico are separate protected Tuscan designations, and a bottle labeled one is not simply a smaller wording variant of the other.
The broad Chianti zone crosses the central Tuscan hills, while Chianti Classico sits on higher country inland, between Florence and Siena, where slope and exposure make one hillside differ from the next. Dellatorri says the wines come from the Torri family's vineyards in Italy.
Dellatorri's bottle, rated 5 out of five with the number of shopper ratings so far at 1, comes in over the 4.71 median for the reds we cover. In our September 2026 checks, the lowest observed price was $10.99.
The highest observed price was $16.88, across ten stores in that same September 2026 round.
Dellatorri's own product page keeps its tasting note brief: bright cherry aromas with soft vanilla and berry flavors, paired, the producer suggests, with fresh pastas in tomato, basil and oregano sauces. Corks & Cheers, the importer's portfolio site, fills in what dellatorri.com does not, the formal Chianti D.O.C.G. designation and Mike Collier, a Master of Wine since 2009, as the winemaker behind the Dellatorri portfolio; neither fact is confirmed on the producer's own site.
Our call: worth considering if a single shopper's five-star score, the Chianti D.O.C.G. designation and a Master-of-Wine-credentialed winemaker, the last two confirmed only by the importer's portfolio page and not by Dellatorri itself, are enough for you; that lone rating does sit above the median we track, but it is one shopper's opinion, not a pattern yet. Pass if you want the grape composition spelled out or a larger base of shopper ratings behind it; neither is on our record for this bottle.

Both names point to Sangiovese-led Tuscan wine, but they have different boundaries and production rules. Reading the full label is the first step because the two names should not be collapsed into one legal category.
