The name it carries, Côtes de Provence, is worth understanding: Provence is a broad region in southern France that holds several separate appellations rather than a single vineyard or one shared house style, and Côtes de Provence is one of them. Nearness to the coast, inland hills and higher ground each change the growing conditions, so which appellation a Provence bottle names really does matter.

Domaines Ott's account of this bottling gives the blend as Grenache in the majority, with Cinsault added for softness and Syrah and Mourvèdre for fruit and structure, grown on arid, limestone-rich hillside vineyards the producer says deliver mineral freshness and a subtly spiced finish. That blend comes from the Château de Selle estate, which Marcel Ott bought in 1912, the first of what became three Ott properties in Provence; the estate itself, the producer says, now farms 93 hectares of those four grapes with an average vine age of 22 years, a figure that covers the estate's red and rosé production together rather than this bottling alone.

For the 2025 vintage specifically, Domaines Ott describes a growing season of sharp contrasts across its three Provence estates: an unusually wet winter and spring followed by a hot, dry summer, with an early harvest that demanded close attention. The producer says the resulting wines combine freshness, tension and aromatic expression, and that the fruit behind them has carried organic certification since the 2022 vintage.

Our call: a reasonable choice if the producer's own terroir and vintage account is what you buy on; Domaines Ott names the exact blend, the limestone hillside site and this vintage's organic-certified fruit in more detail than most Provence rosé on the shelf discloses. Pass if you want the crowd's confirmation behind that story; no shopper rating has reached our record for this bottle, so the producer's account is carrying the case alone.
