JaM Cellars traces its name to its founders, John and Michele Truchard, whom it describes as second-generation Napa Valley vintners. As for the wine itself, our grape research calls Cabernet Sauvignon a red grown in many regions, one that often builds firm and turns up in blends, with black currant, cherry and plum among its common fruit references, noticeable tannin, and possible spice from oak; the same research notes that ripeness, climate and winemaking can leave a Cabernet lean and herbal in style or broad and fruit-led. Which way this one leans we cannot tell you. We do not have a shopper rating for this wine. The lowest we saw in those September 2026 checks was $17.99.

If you are deciding at the shelf, the useful move is to weigh what your own store asks against the range we found across the others. At the top end, another store in the same September 2026 checks had it at $28.99.

JaM Cellars' own shop describes this Cabernet as “juicy, dark-red fruits” balanced by “a delicious touch of vanilla” in the finish, full-bodied and smooth, with the vanilla note credited to time spent in what the producer calls “a unique oak blend.” What the producer's page does not publish is any alcohol percentage or blend breakdown for this bottle; JaM Cellars sells it under the shortened name “Butter Cab” on its own site, part of what it calls the Butter line's “OG” collection, but neither the ABV nor the grape composition beyond “cabernet grapes” appears anywhere we could find.

Our call: a fine pick if the founders' story and the producer's own tasting notes are enough for you; JaM Cellars traces the Butter line to Napa vintners John and Michele Truchard, and the producer describes this Cabernet's fruit and oak character in some detail. Pass if you read the label for alcohol content or blend percentages before buying; neither figure is published anywhere in our record, and no shopper rating has reached us either.
