Begin with the grape, Pinot Noir. It is a thin-skinned red used for still wine and, in many traditional-method sparkling wines, as one of the main grapes. Regional category guides describe red cherry, berry and plum, with lighter color and lower tannin than Cabernet Sauvignon, and they note that the vineyard and the ripeness of the fruit can carry it from bright and delicate to darker and fuller. In our September 2026 checks it was among the least expensive reds we track, as low as $8.99.

O'Neill Vintners & Distillers lists Line 39 in its national portfolio of brands. In those same September 2026 checks, across nine stores, the highest we saw was $15.99, and we do not have a shopper rating for this bottle to set beside the 4.71 median of the 483 rated wines we track. Where the fruit was grown is not something we can confirm here, so at the shelf the choice is whether a Pinot at that low a price is worth it without a confirmed growing area.
