The origin here is California, and no smaller place is named. McManis Family Vineyards says Ron and Jamie McManis founded the winery in 1990.

Our grape research puts Cabernet Sauvignon among the reds grown in many places, a variety that often turns out firmly built wines and lends itself to blends. As for taste, regional authorities cite black currant, cherry, and plum, with noticeable tannin and possible spice from oak, and note that a wine's ripeness, climate, and winemaking can leave it lean and herbal in style or broad and fruit-led. Among the reds we track its price sits toward the lower end, and in our September 2026 checks it ranged from $11.99 to $15.99.

McManis Family Vineyards' spec sheet for this Cabernet Sauvignon lists the fruit as 100 percent estate grown in Lodi, blended predominately with Cabernet Sauvignon and rounded out with small amounts of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot for added texture, body and color. The grapes were picked in stages between late August and late October, fermented on the skins for about a week, then given four to six months of time in French and American oak; the finished wine lists 13.5 percent alcohol. The winery also holds two sustainability certifications, Certified Green under the Lodi Rules program and Certified California Sustainable Winery. One note on the family's own history: the winery's team page dates the founding to 1990 in its main text, but a staff biography on the same page puts it at 1999, a discrepancy the producer's own site has not resolved.

Our call: worth a try if an inexpensive, everyday Cabernet is the point; its price already sits toward the lower end of the reds we track, and McManis backs it with a full technical sheet and two sustainability certifications, more documentation than most bottles at this level carry. Pass if you want the crowd's confirmation before you buy; on record is one shopper's five-out-of-five score, which is not yet a reputation, and no reviewer or guide beyond that has weighed in.
