What we make of this bottle
Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris are two names for the same white grape. Official guides treat the wording as a hint about intent: bottles labeled Pinot Grigio often lean lighter and crisper, while Pinot Gris can signal more weight. The label says Italy, and Italy is a long stretch of wine country. Vineyards sit in the shadow of the Alps, across the inland hills, and out on Mediterranean islands, and elevation, latitude and the distance to the sea keep any one climate description from covering all of it.
