Schramsberg's own account fills in what the label leaves out. Mirabelle Brut is the estate's multi-vintage sparkling wine, first released in 1992, and each bottle now carries a bottling number; this release is the 35th. The producer says the current blend runs 91 percent from the 2023 vintage with the remaining 9 percent drawn from older reserve lots kept in barrel and tank, a practice it says builds richness a single vintage alone would not have. The base grapes are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, hand-picked from cool pockets of California's North Coast, the producer names Napa-Carneros, the Sonoma Coast, Anderson Valley and Marin County, confirming the North Coast appellation on the label; the producer's own county tally puts 59 percent of the fruit in Sonoma, 31 percent in Napa, and the rest split between Mendocino and Marin. After the second fermentation in the bottle, the producer ages the wine on the spent yeast for about two years before finishing it.

The producer's technical sheet adds the numbers behind the style: 12.6 percent alcohol and 0.95 grams of residual sugar per 100 millilitres, about 9.5 grams per litre, which in plain terms is a dry sparkling wine with a light edge of sweetness, consistent with the Brut style named on the label. The winemakers describe the finished wine as carrying "generous, fruitful aromas of pear, tangerine and ripe peach" with "nuances of vanilla and star anise," and on the palate "flavors of mandarin orange, stone fruit and yellow apple" with "vibrant, citrus acidity" on the finish, the winemakers' own words.
