What we make of this bottle
A French white names its country and little more, and France holds many climates rather than one, its vineyards spanning Atlantic, continental, Mediterranean and mountain-influenced settings. The name and producer give a narrower place, Pouilly-Fuissé, where Maison Auvigue says it was established in 1946, though France is the region we can confirm for this bottle; a French wine can also carry a protected regional name that draws a far tighter boundary than the country, and that is the sort of detail that would pin a bottle to one spot.
