What we make of this bottle
On the shelf, across the stores we checked in September 2026, this French Cabernet from Avaline ranged from $23.99 to $31.49. The word French covers a lot of ground: our regional research treats France as a country of origin rather than a single wine region, with vineyards spread across many different climates, and it points out that a French label may carry a narrower AOP or IGP name for a closer sense of place.
We do not have a shopper rating for this wine. If you want the exact spot in France before it goes in the cart, the producer's own product page now gives one: the Cévennes region, in the south of France, where Maison Carrel makes the wine. What stands behind that account is the maker's own short history: Avaline says the company was set up in 2018 and put out its first wines in July 2020.
Maison Carrel is the maker Avaline names for this bottle, and its winemaker, Jeff Carrel, brings more than 30 years of experience and an organic-farming focus, the product page says; the account describes him working directly with local growers to help convert their vineyards to organic practices, and using water-saving systems at the winery. Avaline's own brand-wide winemaker page names a different person, Ashley Herzberg, as 'our winemaker' for the label overall, and neither page explains how the two roles relate; our record has not reconciled which winemaker's hand is on this particular bottle. What the product page does confirm: 12.8 percent alcohol, a dry, sugar-free finish, and ingredients limited to organic grapes, sulfites, yeast, tartaric acid and lactic acid. The tasting note on the same page calls the wine 'full-bodied with bold fruit and hints of cocoa,' the producer's words.

Pass if you want one clear account of who makes the wine: Avaline's own winemaker page names Ashley Herzberg instead, the two credits are not reconciled in our record, and no shopper rating has reached us either.
