What we make of this bottle
What does "France" on a red wine actually tell a shopper? The country it comes from, and not much about the exact place. French Blue fills part of that in: on its About page, the brand says the wine is made in Bordeaux by Stephanie Rivin, an American winemaker who moved there to produce it. Across four stores in our September 2026 checks, the lowest price we saw was $15.99 and the highest $23.99.
On a label by itself, France covers enormous ground. Its vineyards sit in Atlantic, continental, Mediterranean and mountain climates, so the country name alone does not fix a style or a season. A French wine can also carry a narrower protected name, an AOP or IGP, that marks a smaller area; here the country is all the label commits to, while the maker points to Bordeaux. So the real question for the aisle is a simple one: a French red in the broad sense, or the Bordeaux that French Blue actually names?
