Natura Unoaked Chardonnay Chilean White Wine

Which whites cost the least? This Chilean Chardonnay ranks among the lowest-priced of the whites we track. It comes from Banfi, a company that, by Banfi's account, the Mariani family founded in New York City in 1919 and still owns, and in our September 2026 checks it carried a single price of $9.49. The origin is given only as Chile, and that one word spans a long country: its vineyards are shaped by the Andes in some places, a low inland plain in others, and the Pacific coast elsewhere, so no single national growing climate covers them all, and a named valley would be needed to place it any closer.

The name says unoaked. We do not have a shopper rating for this bottle. Category guides put citrus and apple at Chardonnay's cooler end and stone or tropical fruit in the riper examples, and a Chardonnay kept out of oak takes a lighter shape than one fermented and aged in oak, where the barrel can add toast, spice and a rounder feel.

Banfi's technical sheet for this wine lists the grape as 100 percent Chardonnay, organically grown and hand-picked in late March from Central Valley, Chile, where the soil mixes clay and sand. The finished wine comes in at 13.6 percent alcohol. The winemaking notes describe fermentation in stainless steel with selected yeasts at low temperatures, pump-overs during fermentation, and gentle stirring of the spent yeast for texture; no oak appears anywhere in that process, consistent with the unoaked name on the label. The sheet's own tasting language calls the bouquet "tantalizing citrus aromas of grapefruit and lime blend with notes of pineapple" and describes the palate as "juicy citrus and tropical fruit flavors" with "a delicious finish," the producer's words, and states the wine carries organic, gluten-free and vegan-friendly certifications.

Our call: worth a try if the label's unoaked claim needs backing; Banfi's tech sheet confirms an all-stainless, no-barrel process behind that name, organically grown fruit, and a price among the lowest whites we track. Pass if you want a shopper record behind the choice; none exists for this bottle yet.
