What we make of this bottle
The history is the part worth leading with: Cakebread Cellars says Jack and Dolores Cakebread founded the winery in Rutherford in 1973. Napa Valley runs only about thirty miles, yet official regional guides say its valley floor, hillsides and mountain sites differ sharply from one another. It has been a recognized American wine region since 1981, and seventeen smaller areas now sit inside it.
Sauvignon Blanc is the grape here, and official guides describe it in terms of citrus, green herbs and gooseberry, with cooler sites able to emphasize green and citrus notes while warmer or riper fruit can lean tropical. If you are planning a table around it, those flavors belong to the grape in general and not to a tasting of this bottle, which we do not have a shopper rating for yet. In our September 2026 checks, the observed price was $39.99.
Cakebread's own site currently sells two different Sauvignon Blancs: a standard-tier bottling labeled appellation North Coast, and a separate Reserve tier labeled Napa Valley.
