What we make of this bottle
Sweet, the product name says, and that is already more than the word Moscato promises on its own. Our grape research describes Moscato as a whole family of aromatic white grapes, and at the grocery store its bottles turn up still, lightly fizzy, or fully sparkling. For the Moscato Bianco grape, the Asti consortium describes aromas of flower, peach and apricot, and our grape research adds that many familiar versions keep noticeable sweetness and lower alcohol. Gallo says its winery has been family owned since brothers Ernest and Julio Gallo started it in Modesto, California in 1933, though that is about the company as a whole, not this particular wine. Across our September 2026 checks, the low end was $9.99, among the lower prices for a white wine here.

Gallo says brothers Ernest and Julio Gallo started the winery in Modesto, California in 1933, and it is still family owned today, with three generations of the family working in the business.
