The name is Orange Gold, and though our record lists it simply as a white, Gérard Bertrand's own page now names an unusual seven-grape blend behind it: Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, Mauzac, Muscat Petits Grains and Clairette. The high we saw in that same September 2026 range was $29.99. The maker gives the backstory: Gerard Bertrand says the brand was founded in 1992, with estates spread across the Languedoc-Roussillon.
Gérard Bertrand makes Orange Gold by what the producer calls an ancestral technique: the white grapes are fermented as whole bunches in the way red wine is made, left in contact with their skins and stems, a maceration the producer says gives the wine its orange color and a tannic quality more common to reds than whites. The bottle carries an organic certification, and several critics have scored it, James Suckling, Guide Vert RVF and Bettane+Desseauve among them, alongside a Double Gold from the Sakura competition. The producer's own pages disagree on the vintage, though: the product page we captured is headed 2023, while the product family and its own URL reference a 2022 vintage for the same wine, a discrepancy Gérard Bertrand's site does not resolve.
