The producer says the fruit comes mainly from the Saering and Spiegel vineyard blocks, with additional parcels from Bux and Bollenberg, and that after pressing the wine ferments in temperature-controlled tanks for one to four months, then spends seven months resting on the spent yeast before bottling. The producer's own tasting assessment calls the wine “light, fresh and floral”, with “aromas of white fruits” and a “dry, straight, ample and refreshing” palate, the maker's words.

The range name has its own story. Domaines Schlumberger says the Princes Abbes name honors the nearby Murbach Abbey, whose abbots grew so powerful they were named Princes of the Holy Roman Empire; by the producer's account, the abbey's monks were shipping Guebwiller wine as far as Austria by the 12th century, and when counterfeiters began passing off inferior wine under the town's name, the growers started attaching a certificate of origin to every barrel, a step the producer calls an early precursor to today's AOC system.
