What we make of this bottle
And a label that says only "France" is naming a whole country, not a single spot on the map. French vines grow beside the Atlantic, across cooler inland hills, and down along the warm Mediterranean, so the country by itself will not tell you the style; for that you want an appellation or a word from the people who made it. Here the makers give that word: French Blue says the wine is made in Bordeaux.
The grape is Sauvignon Blanc. Guides note it is usually made as a dry still white, though sweetness and oak use vary, and describe the grape as giving wines with a clear aroma and refreshing acidity. Official regional guides tie the category to citrus, green herbs, gooseberry and tropical fruit; cooler sites can emphasize green and citrus notes, while warmer or riper fruit can lean more tropical.
