Across two stores in our September 2026 checks, the price fell between $18.99 and $23.99. The grape inside this bottle is not confirmed; its origin, by contrast, is.
The regional guides we follow describe Barbera d'Asti as a protected red DOCG centered on the provinces of Asti and Alessandria, with the full name serving to pin down where the wine comes from. Those guides tie the designation to one main grape spread across a broad run of Monferrato hills, so it marks out a wide growing area rather than a single site, with slope, elevation and soil changing from vineyard to vineyard. They add a caution worth heeding: Barbera d'Asti is a red, and should not be taken for Asti DOCG or Moscato d'Asti, which are separate designations built on Moscato Bianco. What the name means
Barbera d'Asti is a protected red-wine DOCG centered on the provinces of Asti and Alessandria. It must never map to asti-docg: Asti DOCG and Moscato d'Asti are separate Moscato Bianco designations.
How grapes grow here
The production area crosses exposed hills in Asti and Alessandria. Slope, elevation and local soil affect the vineyards, so the DOCG name does not describe one identical growing site.

The consortium separates older pale soils found in several parts of Monferrato from the sandier ground around the Tanaro and central Asti hills. Individual vineyards can differ within both broad groups.
