What we make of this bottle
And Alexander Valley, the origin here, is worth a moment. Our region research describes it as a federally recognized growing area in northern Sonoma County, stretching about 20 miles along the Russian River and its benchlands, a name more exact than Sonoma County or California by themselves. What that research teaches is that one valley name still covers varied ground: elevation, the way a slope faces the sun, and distance from the river leave one vineyard warmer or cooler than the next, and the warm, dry summers are eased by cooler Pacific air that reaches some sites more than others.
Phil Long says he and his late wife Debra started Longevity Wines in a Livermore garage in 2008 and grew it into a certified minority-owned family winery. That family story sits behind this Alexander Valley Cabernet, which ranged from $28.99 to $34.99 across the three stores we checked in September 2026.
Our grape research adds the usual expectations for Cabernet Sauvignon: a grape that often makes firmly built reds. Regional authorities name black currant, cherry and plum among its common fruit references, with noticeable tannin and possible spice from oak. We do not have a shopper rating for this wine.
The wine's own listing on the winery's storefront, hosted on Vinoshipper, fills in specifics the marketing pages do not: a 2022 vintage from Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, priced at $45 for a 750 mL bottle, with 13.8 percent alcohol. The listing states the wine was served at the 2025 Met Gala in New York and describes "unrestrained aromas of plump, ripe blackberries, cherries and fresh earth," with "fully ripened fruit, inviting mocha and sultry vanilla" on the palate.
Our call: the Alexander Valley origin and Phil Long's family story make this a pick for a shopper who buys on provenance; the winery's own storefront listing confirms the appellation, vintage and alcohol behind the price, details its general marketing pages do not spell out. Pass if you want more than the winery's own listing behind the story; the Met Gala mention is the winery's own marketing claim, not independent press, and no shopper rating has reached us yet.

Alexander Valley follows the Russian River and nearby benchlands for about 20 miles. The valley name establishes a defined origin, but elevation, exposure and distance from the river still create different vineyard settings within it.
What the name means
Alexander Valley is a federally recognized American Viticultural Area in northern Sonoma County. The AVA name is more specific than California or Sonoma County alone.
How grapes grow here
The region has warm, dry summers, with cooler air moving inland from the Pacific and along the Russian River. Day-to-night temperature changes and the strength of that cooling vary across the valley.
What lies under the vines
Rocky and gravelly ground appears on hills and benches, while sandy loam and river deposits occur nearer the valley floor. The AVA name does not establish one soil for every bottle.
