What we make of this bottle
Black Stallion Estate Winery says its Napa Valley winery opened in 2007, on the property that had been the Silverado Horseman's Center. That is the history of the winery behind this Cabernet Sauvignon. 17 shoppers have rated this bottle, and the average is 4.88 out of five, above the 4.71 median rating of the rated wines we cover.
Napa Valley runs only about thirty miles, and within that short stretch the valley floor, the hillsides and the mountain sites differ sharply; the name given here is the valley as a whole, not one of the seventeen smaller AVAs drawn inside it. The grape is Cabernet Sauvignon, which regional authorities describe as firmly built; they list black currant, plum and cherry as the common fruit notes and noticeable tannin, and they say ripeness, climate and winemaking can push it toward lean and herbal or toward broad and fruit-led.
In our September 2026 checks the three stores we saw had it between $27.99 and $39.99. San Pablo Bay cools the southern end of the valley, and fog lowers overnight temperatures across much of it.
Black Stallion's own history page names the family and the land behind the winery. The Indelicato family, whose ancestors Gaspare and Caterina Indelicato immigrated from Sicily and planted a first vineyard in Manteca, California in 1924, still shapes the winery today, per the producer's account. The producer dates the property itself more precisely than a founding year alone: Exclusive Estates Wine Group bought the land in October 2005, and the winery that opened there in July 2007 occupies the former Silverado Horseman's Center, a 32-acre horse-training facility built in the 1950s with an indoor riding track and a half-mile race track.
Our call: reach for it if you want a Napa Valley Cabernet; the producer dates its winery to a 2007 opening on the site of the historic Silverado Horseman's Center, and the shoppers' average runs above the middle of the rated wines we cover. Pass if you want an origin drawn tighter than the valley as a whole before spending at this level; the name here is Napa Valley, not one of the smaller areas inside it.
