The first thing worth knowing about this Rioja is that its shelf price is not a single number. Across the stores we checked in September 2026, the low came to $14.99. Pernod Ricard says Campo Viejo got its start in Rioja in 1959. The producer's own product page now names the grapes behind this Reserva: Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo. Campo Viejo describes this Reserva as a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo, aged a minimum of three years before release, eighteen months in American and French oak followed by eighteen more months resting in the bottle. The producer's tasting notes point to fruit, cherries, black plums, ripe blackberries, alongside oak-driven clove, pepper, vanilla and coconut, finishing with what the producer calls "elegant and soft tannins" and a "long and complex finish", the winery's words, not ours. The wine lists at 13.5 percent alcohol; worth flagging, the site's footer now credits Vinarchy as the company behind it rather than Pernod Ricard, the name behind the 1959 founding fact above, so the wine's corporate ownership appears to have changed or been renamed since our last record.

Our call: worth it if a stated blend and an unusually long aging clock, three years total, a minimum of eighteen months in oak, appeal to you; Campo Viejo names its grapes and its process in specific terms. Pass if you want a shopper rating to confirm the pick, or a single settled price: neither is on our record, and this bottle's price has moved from store to store in our checks, so compare before you buy.
