What we make of this bottle
Bodegas Muga describes itself as a family winery in Haro, Spain, into its third generation since Isaac Muga and Aurora Cano founded it in 1932. The most striking thing in the record, though, is the price, which moves a good deal from one store to the next.
This bottle's origin on record is Rioja, though the grape or grapes in it are not fixed in the record, so the origin tells us where it is from but not how it tastes. We do not have a shopper rating for this wine, so the price is the main thing to weigh. If you are choosing at the shelf, compare what your own store asks against the range we saw across others.
Muga's own account of itself is the firm part here; the grapes inside stay unnamed. Across the stores we checked, the price in our September 2026 checks ranged from $34.99 to $47.99.
Bodegas Muga's current tech sheet and product page do not use either word in this bottle's name: they classify the wine as Crianza, a different official Rioja aging category from Reserva, and they never say unfiltered, describing instead a traditional fining with fresh egg white, a clarifying step that is not the same claim as unfiltered bottling. It is possible the US import carries a different aging specification than the current Spanish release, or that older back-label language is still in circulation; either way, we are not treating the current tech sheet's blend and aging details as confirmed for this specific bottle, and note the naming mismatch rather than resolve it.
Our call: buy this if the family history and the Rioja origin are enough for you, and shop the price at your own store; Bodegas Muga has run the winery since 1932, and the price we have on record swings widely from store to store, so checking before you buy is worth the minute it takes. Pass if you need the label's own claims confirmed; the producer's current materials classify this wine as Crianza rather than Reserva and never say unfiltered, a naming gap we have not resolved, and no shopper rating has reached our record.

Rioja’s name does real legal work, but a generic Tempranillo is not automatically Crianza. Classification must come from the label, not from the region’s reputation for oak aging.
