What are you getting from a Chardonnay you have not poured before? Our grape research frames it as a range rather than a set taste: left without oak the wine stays lighter, while oak fermentation and aging can turn it rounder with a toasty edge, and category guides link citrus and apple to cooler fruit, stone fruit to riper. The name gives Central Coast, which our record classifies within California. In the stores we checked in September 2026, it ranged from $17.99 to $24.99.

On the maker, Treasury Wine Estates says it built Drop of Sunshine with Reese Witherspoon's media company Hello Sunshine and launched the wines in October 2024. We do not have a shopper rating for this wine.

The brand's own site fills in the technical picture behind the label: 100 percent Chardonnay finished at 14.4 percent alcohol, with 2 grams per litre of residual sugar, in plain terms a dry wine, and 5.8 grams per litre of acidity for balance. Winemaker Diana Roberts's tasting note describes "crisp lemon tart and mineral with nectarine and pear on the finish," plus, in the brand's words, "delicate aromas of tasty and sweet oak that are well integrated and supportive of the fresh, bright profile." The producer calls the wine versatile enough to pair with seafood, white meat, cheese, charcuterie and most Asian dishes.

Our call: worth a try if the Reese Witherspoon-linked Hello Sunshine story and a dry, 14.4 percent Chardonnay built around lemon and stone fruit are what draw you in; the winemaker and Treasury Wine Estates publish the technical numbers plainly. Pass if you want a shopper track record behind the label; no rating has reached our record yet for a wine launched only in October 2024.
