What we make of this bottle
Two Hands says it was founded in September 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz in South Australia's Barossa Valley, and Twelftree still owns it today alongside Pierre-Henri Morel. Our September 2026 checks found one store pricing it at $32.99.
Shiraz is another name for the grape known as Syrah, and which name a producer chooses can hint at the style intended. Grape guides describe dark berry, plum, pepper and savory notes, with medium to full body and firm structure, and they add a useful rule of thumb: cooler vineyards tend to push the pepper and freshness forward, while warmer ones bring riper fruit and more weight. Our record confirms only Australia, not a narrower growing area, so it stops short of saying which way a given bottle leans. We do not have a shopper rating for this wine.

The producer's own page for this exact bottling narrows the region: Two Hands lists the fruit as coming from the Barossa Valley itself, fermented in open-top vessels with daily pump-overs, then given twelve months in French oak, about 13 percent of it new barrels and the rest one to six years old, a producer-attested detail behind the pepper and dark-fruit character the grape guides describe in general terms. The bottle carries 14.2 percent alcohol under a screwcap closure. Wine Companion, reviewing the 2024 vintage in February 2026, scored it 92 points, citing 'juicy plum, blueberry, dark cherry and boysenberry fruits' with fine, sandy tannins, the critic's words for a wine our record has held only through price and producer facts until now.
Our call: a reasonable pick if a confirmed vineyard region and a professional 92-point score are enough to go on; Wine Companion reviewed the current vintage itself, not an older release. Pass if a shopper rating carries more weight for you than a critic's opinion; none is in our record yet, so the crowd's read is still missing from the picture.
