What does "Napa Valley" on the front actually tell a shopper? By the regional guides we follow, the valley runs only about thirty miles, yet its valley floor, hillsides and mountain sites can differ sharply, so the valley name marks the origin while a smaller area or a named vineyard gives a closer read of the place. The finished wine ages with about 20 percent new barrels and comes in at 15 percent alcohol by the label; the sheet's own tasting note reads “silken, vibrant, earthy, layered, cacao, zest, pomegranate”, the estate's words. On its product page, Dominus Estate describes Napanook as carrying “a bold and vibrant character”, with “exuberant fruit, smooth structure, and medium bodied texture”.
